Around Lake Annecy by bike

Gently pedal along the banks of the purest lake in France and admire its turquoise blue waters by following a former railway line (thus relatively flat and without any major difficulties), is true happiness.

This thirty six kilometre circuit, between Annecy and Ugine, crosses the attractive villages of Sevrier, Saint-Jorioz, Duingt and Doussard. Then, it is countryside, the Savoyard cows and their cowbells with mountains in perspective. Everyone goes at his own pace, and as it's often interesting to dismount and linger, the day stretches charmingly.

Feel like a little swim? The track has a direct access to the Marquisats free beach or to both beaches at Sevrier.

Numerous campsites, hotels, guest houses and restaurants are also on the track and for others, even more numerous, two pedal strokes are enough to reach them. A stopping place at "Chez ma Cousine", in Doussard, the bar opened by the family Bise of Talloires, is imperative.

Nature lovers will wander as far as the Sentier des Roselières, between Saint Jorioz and Duingt. It is one of the rare paths which follow the lake very closely.

By taking advantage of the occasion to visit museums, stroll in the old town of Annecy, -which is worth the detour-, decide to leave the cycle for a cruise on the lake, a day won't be enough to exhaust all these miracles. No matter, the cycle is a patient steed. While one is enjoying oneself, it waits!
