Crest Jazz Vocal : All the voices of jazz

 The Crest area is one of the most dynamic of the Drôme, (which however does not miss any...) as regards cultural and tourist initiatives of all horizons.

 In this beginning of August, it is jazz which is invited at the foot of the Tower and the most beautiful voices go up toward the top of the keep. 

The love story between the Valley of the Drôme and jazz does not date from yesterday. It all started in 1959 and, before becoming a renowned festival, the initiative knew various fortunes, but a determination without fault.

 Since 1988, it is the place of Vocal Jazz and, for nearly twenty years now, the most beautiful jazz voices are expressed at Crest. 

Do not miss, this year, the opening night free concert with the singers of Doodlin' and their swing of the Forties. The young ladies in question sang on the soundtrack of the "Triplettes of Belleville" cartoon. Tuesday, you will be able to listen to Elisabeth Kontomanou, one of the very great voices of jazz, who came to Crest long before she got a "Victoire de la Musique" award.

A special warm thought to the musicians from the East, on stage on Thursday, with Titi Robin who mixes all the styles: gypsy, Turkish, Moroccan and Andalusia. Undoubtedly he is he most universal of the participants. David Krakauer, as for him, invites a DJ to accompany him to give some pep to his music, by adding a pinch of electro and hip hop.

Before the ‘caliente' evening, with musicians of Cuba and Colombia on Saturday, we will be able to listen to Amadou and Mariam, the famous Malian couple who have received for more than a year now, the most eulogist criticisms and true passion of the public.

As for any festival worthy of its name, many events are organized around the programming of Crest Vocal Jazz: contest of vocal jazz, voice training courses, introductory course to the salsa, brass bands parades and even a workshop of vocal jazz for the children. So that Jazz lives!
