Mozart and Berlioz's summer

Twenty years already that Mozart takes over Saoû a small village in the Drôme, its square, its plane trees, its famous picodon and the genius of Salzburg blossom there.

To celebrate the event, "Saoû chante Mozart" gives carte blanche this year to some of the interpreters who have taken festival to the summits. The subject will be "the musicians Mozart".

For this festival unique in France, Mozart will be associated this year with his friend Haydn, the 200^th anniversary of his death is celebrated. He was his senior, but their indestructible friendship and their respective influences were unique in the music world.

Among all the concerts in the multiple venues surrounding the town, do not miss the dinner under the plane trees on the Place des Cagnards in Saoû on July 8^th with serenades by the musicians for dessert and, on July 14^th, in the Saoû forest, the European Baroque Academy of Ambronay in a cathedral of massive trees.

Berlioz' native village, la Côte Saint André, celebrates the most illustrious of the symphonic and romantic composers.  The very one who, in love with immoderation, invented at this time (in the 1830's) the notion of ‘festival', with the organization of a series of large-scale musical performances.

Generous, the festival proposes attractive prices, even free access under the covered market or to the museum. And if thunderstorms (almost hoped for as they are so romantic) fall on the Louis 11^th castle courtyard; the protective canopies will be right there.
